Cats breeds that look like kittens forever!
Smallest Cat Breeds
Everyone loves a cute little kitten, but the kitten doesn’t last long before you have a fully grown cat.
If you want to have a cat that stays in the cute small stage, then maybe one of these breeds is for you!
The Singapura is one of the smallest cat breeds in the world, and is half the size of an average cat. They have short hair and can have eyes coloured hazel, green or yellow. The breed comes in only one colour—a singular, sepia-toned coat.
The Singapura cat might be little, but the breed is certainly not delicate! They are curious and highly intelligent. Singapura cats are muscular and love to climb and explore. They want to be in the middle of the action and will be right by your side, for instance, while you do chores—ready to play if you thrust a duster in their direction.
They don't like loud noises and can spook if they hear an unexpected loud noise.
Munchkins are named after the magical folk in The Wizard of Oz. It is one of the most famous small cat breeds. Their tiny size is due to a gene mutation that means that they have little dumpy legs that are much shorter than normal. While their bodies are only slightly smaller than average, their shoulders are very low to the ground, which is why they have such an adorable pottering gait.
These small cat breeds may not be able to jump as high or far as the average cat, but they’re very fast and active, so be prepared for plenty of kitten-like good fun in your home.
The American Curl can be various sizes but tend to be petite. Their ears curl backwards, hence their name. However, their ears are straight when a kitten is born and they begin to curl back at two to 10 days after birth. They curl, uncurl and curl some more until reaching their permanent shape when a kitten is about 4 months old. These cats are very affectionate and are incredibly playful, making them ideal for families.
The Cornish Rex is a small cat that unusually has a curly coat! They are super soft to touch and shed very little fur. They only tend to weigh around 8 pounds and keep their adorable kitten appearance forever.
These cats are very good at opening cupboards because of their long, agile toes!
The Devon Rex is a close cousin of the Cornish Rex. Their average weight is around 5 to 10 pounds. They are also super soft to touch and have big ears and large eyes. They are very friendly so are ideal for someone who is at home a lot.
According to the Guiness World Records….
The smallest cat on record was a male blue point Himalayan-Persian, named Tinker Toy that measured only 7 cm (2.75 in) tall and 19 cm (7.5 in) long when full grown (aged 2.5 years).
